WELLINGTON Experience is hosting its tenth World Wellington Boot Throwing Championship next month.

The event is being held on the playing fields at Court Fields School in Mantle Street on Saturday, September 8.

Wellington’s Mayor, Cllr Gary James, kick-starts the fun at noon by introducing Wellington Majorettes.

The ‘Welly Boot’ is a family fun day with lots to do and see, and aims to put Wellington on the map.

Entry is free to the event with a low charge for entering the competition – medals, trophies and shields, sponsored by Wellington businesses, will be given to the winners at 5pm.

The Mount Veterinary Hospital is organising the dog show with judging starting at 1pm – entries on the day.

Raffle profits will go to WHERE, The Northfield Centre, North Street, Wellington. Tickets are available from WHERE before the event and on the day. King’s Cycles, North Street, Wellington,

has given the first prize.
