Pupils from St John’s Primary School in Wellington marked Remembrance by discussing the meaning of Remembrance and the importance of poppies.

Each child and member of staff then painted a pebble and placed it in the school grounds and a minute’s silence.

Deputy headteacher Linda Roberts said: “The inspiration for this was the Welly Rocks idea, but we decided that it would be special to keep the pebbles at school as a constant reminder to pupils and adults.”

Key Stage 2 pupils made the most of the British Film Institute Into Film Festival by visiting the Wellesley Cinema and watching the film ZOO – a true story set in the Second World War.
