HUNDREDS of people packed Wellington town centre on Sunday for the 121st annual street fair.

The event, in aid of Wellington Carnival funds, was voted a success by regulars and newcomers alike.

Despite some rain showers, the weather stayed mainly bright as High Street took on a carnival atmosphere for the day.

Wellington Town Mayor Cllr Peter Critchard opened the fair and the the Wellington Majorettes put on a march past.

Secretary of the organising committee, Joyce Hemming, said: "It has been a great success."
