BRITISH Transport Police are not revealing the identity of a woman who died after a train collided with a car at a level crossing at Bradford-on-Tone last week.

Great Western Railway (GWR) said the 18.37 service from Paddington to Plymouth struck a car at the crossing at 9.10pm on Monday, December 23.

A GWR spokesman said: “The car driver died at the scene. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those affected at this incredibly difficult time.

“British Transport Police are investigating the circumstances of this tragic incident and we will provide our full assistance.”

Because the incident is not being treated as ‘suspicious’, the name of the driver is not being released.
