FIRE fighters battled for 40 minutes to release a woman from her car after a two-car rush hour collision in Wellington on Monday evening.

The incident happened at the junction of Hoyles Road and Oldway Road at 6.13pm.

Two fire and rescue appliances from Wellington were mobilised to the scene, together with a rescue tender from Taunton.

Crews used cutting equipment to remove the roof of one car, releasing the woman, who has not been named.

She was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital with unspecified injuries by ambulance.
