TWO workshops will be held in Wellington for women authors looking to get involved in a new magazine.

A group celebrated the 100th anniversary of the start of the women’s suffrage last year and produced a special one-off edition of Just Women, a Somerset pre-Millennium award-winning feminist magazine.

Avril Silk said: “Working with Moorvale Creative CIC and Somerset Skills and Learning, we want to build on that and produce a new magazine for today with fresh, lively writing and, for those who are interested, the chance to work on the production.”

Avril, who was one of the original Just Women editors and columnists, is looking for women to find their voice and speak out.

“We need their stories, news, poems, opinions, rants, recipes and reviews,” she said. “Together we will work on the content of the new magazine and there will be follow-on sessions with Fodo Higginson to produce it.”

Two workshops will be held at the Friends’ Meeting House in Wellington on Saturday, November 16, and Saturday, December 14, from 10am-4.30pm. Participants are asked to take food to share at lunchtime, while tea and coffee will be provided.

The sessions are free to attend, but as Wellington Friends collect for the food bank, contributions would be welcome.
