WELLINGTON Lions were top of the second division in the Exeter Over 60s Bowls League going into their home match against North Tawton. 

Mike Copping, Pete Nichols and skip Mike Groves set off at a brisk pace on their rink. The North Tawton trio did all they could but Wellington were just too good and won comfortably 29-10.

On the next rink, Nick Channon, Graham Brown and skip Paul Kelly led 18-14 after 12 end and went on to win 27-15.

So Wellington Lions were pleased with a comfortable overall victory by 56 shots to 25.

Wellington's Tigers had a harder time of it in Division 4 against Belmont A. Mike Connor, Eddie Dilley and skip Henry Richbell were four shots behind after ten ends and eventually went down 23-13.. 

Roger Murphy, Alan May and skip Steve Lovell needed to win by a clear eleven shots if they were to claim victory.

After fourteen ends Tigers were leading 22 – 8 and it looked as though they could pull off an overall victory, but in the last four ends Belmont won all four to pick up a decisive seven shots.

Tigers won the game but only by seven shots, 22 – 15, so the overall victory went to Belmont A 38-35.
