WELLINGTON Wanderers U10s capped off their season in style by lifting the Plate on a sun-soaked finals day at Minehead. Despite the sweltering conditions and high stakes, the young side dug deep to come out on top, showing determination, discipline, and flashes of quality when it mattered most.

The semi-final clash against a determined Tone Youth saw Wellington make a nervous start. The usual flowing football was hard to come by, but the boys battled through a tense affair. It was Jack Jorge whose goal made the difference, robbing the last man to fire home the only goal of the game and send Wellington through with a 1-0 win.

In the final, Wellington faced VPR and produced a much-improved display, though they still had to work hard for the victory. Rex Beatty opened the scoring with a fine finish from a tight angle, showing great awareness by spotting the keeper off his line. The game was sealed by Jorge, who struck again—this time with a superb shot from just outside the area that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

While Wellington are usually known for their sharp passing and quick transitions, this was a day where grit and determination took centre stage.

Special mentions go to: Tom Kennen for an assured performance in goal, impressing with both his hands and feet; Kohen Woodgate, Logan Thorpe, and Fraser May for a rock-solid defensive display, keeping calm under pressure and denying the opposition any real chances; Jude Norman, Rex Beatty, Harrison Thompson, and Louis Molloy for their relentless work rate and ability to support both ends of the pitch, linking play superbly; Jack Jorge for his constant goal threat and clinical finishing that ultimately got the team over the line.
