WELLINGTON Bowling Club Lions and Tigers played at home during the past. Tigers won their match against high flying Morton Bishop while Lions came close but lost overall to a powerful Exonia A squad.

Tigers' Derek Vile, Ian Hollingsworth and David Beaudet were comfortable 19 – 14 winners while Ed Dilley, Henry Richbell and Tony Gibson fought their way to a well earned 14 – 14 draw. That gave the Tigers an overall victory by 33 shots to 28.

Lions' Jay Merrell, Julian Street and Graham Brown were playing catch-up for much of their early game against Exonia but they picked up an amazing 8 shots in the 13th which took them to a close victory 17 – 15.

Meanwhile Mike Copping, Peter Nichols and Mike Groves had a very close game but the Exonia trio pinched it in the end 17 – 12.

The overall victory went to Exonia, 32 – 29.
