WELLINGTON Ladies lost by 17 shots in an away match against North Petherton.

It was a difficult venue because North Petherton had only just opened their green for the new season, so it was very heavy and difficult to adjust to.

Despite that, all the Wellington ladies were determined to give their best. And they did!

June Anderson, Angela Moore and skip Lynda Manning's side had a particularly good game against strong opposition.

It took them a couple of ends to acclimatise to the untried bowling green but from then on Lynda’s team settled in well and played consistently and carefully to pick up a good win by 17 shots to 11.

Pat Bridger, Janet Moore and skip Brenda Wilson took longer to acclimatise and they were up against a strong North Petherton trio but they did their best and picked up 10 shots against their opponents' 29.

Tracy Richbell, Shirley Samuel and skip Gill Groves had a much closer game. They were level on 12 shots each after ten ends but lost out in the end-game by just four shots, 21 – 17.

So after three exciting games Petherton ladies were the winners by 61 shots to Wellington's 44.
