SOMERSET left-arm seamer JT Langridge is hoping to ‘put his name out there’ and star in the Metro Bank One Day Cup as preparations for the 2026 county season continue.
After spending a session both batting and bowling at Taunton, the tall 20-year-old said: “It’s great to be outside and training on the grass again, especially after being back here and inside all winter. It was nice to be able to go out to Spain after Abu Dhabi, but now we are back and training outside.
“Over this winter I have put in a lot of work coming back from injury and I’m hoping that it’s all starting to come together for me for the start of the season.
“I’m going to be available for all competitions which is great, and now I’m just looking forward to getting started.
“I hope to able to make as much of an impact as I can in the 50-over competition, and then if any other opportunities arise I will grab it with both hands and really put my name out there.”
Somerset bowling coach Steve Kirby, who has worked with the young bowler over the last couple of years, said: “JT has been absolutely fantastic and worked so hard. It’s been a tough winter for him because he’s had to get back from his injury.
“He is a very conscientious lad and getting fitter and physically stronger every day, and I’m really quite excited about where he could get to this summer. It was his first year on the staff last season and now he’s a year older and a year stronger and more experienced, so I’m really excited to see what he has got.”
“Another plus is that he can bat as well. He’s a great lad who works really, really hard, and I have got high hopes for him in 2026.”
