Sam Whitefield (pictured), one of Wellington Cricket Club’s top players, will miss the start of next season.

He will be spending time in Singapore teaching hockey as part of his university course and this will encroach on five to six weeks of the cricket season.

The all-rounder was the Players’ Player last summer.
