THE first Somerset CCC Members Lunch of 2026, which took place in the County Room, has been given the thumbs up by the 100 plus who attended the event.

Members had the chance to meet up with like minded people, reflect on last season and the happenings during the closed season and look forward to the new campaign.

Among those who attended were SCCC president Sir Peter Wanless, chief executive Jamie Cox, vice chair Richard Brice and members representatives Geoff Vian, Richard Hatcher Barbara Martin, Steve Southwell, and Michelle Edwards.

The special guest was Somerset captain Lewis Gregory who, after making his debut back in 2010, is this year enjoying a well deserved testimonial.

After the lunch, Lewis was interviewed by Spencer Bishop during which the Somerset captain shared some of his thoughts on his times at the club and said that he felt the club was well placed to make a full- on bid for the county championship in 2026.

Mike Unwin from the Somerset Cricket Museum then updated members about recent developments and talked about what was planned for the new season, including a display focussing on the legendary Bill Alley.

Richard Brice, the vice chair, then informed members of some of the developments which had taken place at the club over the winter months.

These included the upgrading of the Indoor school to meet ECB standards, new carpets in the County Room, the creation of a new refreshment outlet and bar in place of Eat the Bird and the refurbishment of the Thatchers Terrace.

During the course of the event a raffle took place with the proceeds being shared between Children’s Hospice South West and the Lewis Gregory Testimonial Fund.

The next SCCC Members Lunch will be taking place on Tuesday, 14th April, and to book a place email [email protected].
