WELLINGTON’S Thomas Gendall has been chosen to captain Somerset Under 10s’ cricket team.

Thomas, who will be going into Year Six at Wellington Prep in September, has been part of the Wellington U11 team for the past three seasons and was part of the side which were league champions in 2018 and finished third this season.

Tony Hutchings, who is in charge of youth cricket at Wellington, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Thomas and thoroughly deserved. He works hard at his game, listens, and is great fun to be around.

“We have just done the nominations for next winter’s player pathway, and have put forward over 15 children for county assessment, which is the most I can remember, so hopefully this time next year, we will be celebrating more success for our youngsters”.
