WELLINGTON will be looking for their third successive win when they play their last match of the season away to struggling Shapwick & Polden in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, August 30.

Shapwick, already relegated, are now bottom of the table after losing by ten wickets to leaders Taunton Deane last weekend after being bowled out for 65.

Wellington are lying sixth following successive wins over Bridgwater 2nd XI and Butleigh who were bottom before last weekend’s round of games.

Taunton Deane and Ilminster both have the same number of points at the top of the table with the Deane playing away to Butleigh while the South Somerset side end their season at Yeovil.

Meanwhile Wellington 2nd XI have a top of the table clash at home to leaders and new champions West Monkton in Division Two of the Somerset League which will also be their last fixture of the summer.

The Taunton side have already clinched the championship but Wellington, in second spot, are only four points clear of third-placed Staplegrove and will have to beat Monkton to make sure of joining them in Division One next season.

Staplegrove end their season with an away match against Burnham on Sea who are in fifth position, with nine wins from 17 games.

Wellington 3rd XI end their season in Division Three Red with an away fixture against their Uphill Castle counterparts who are lying third while Wellington are two places below their rivals.

Wellington can finish no higher but are on the same number of points as Wembdon 5th XI who play second-placed Mass who have already clinched promotion as runners-up. West Monkton 2nd XI have made it a good season for the Taunton club by making sure of finishing top.
