WELLINGTON will be chasing the season's double over Butleigh when the sides play each other in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League at the Playing Field on Saturday, August 23 (12 noon).

Butleigh are bottom of the table and already face relegation after losing their last six matches. Wellington beat Butleigh by 28 runs in June, being rescued by some fine batting by their late order after they had slumped to 108-8, eventually scoring 233 all out.

Butleigh lost their 14th game of the season when they went down by eight wickets against Wembdon last weekend, while Wellington gained an impressive seven-wicket home victory over Bridgwater 2nd XI.

Wellington are currently lying sixth in the table and could finish as high as fourth if they win their last two matches, their final fixture being away to Shapwick & Polden who are also set to go down after winning only two of their matches.

Meanwhile, Wellington 2nd XI will be looking to bounce back after their 36-run defeat by Frome 2nd XI in Division Two of the Somerset League when they play away to fourth-placed Broadway & Horton on Saturday (Aug 23).

Wellington remain second - 33 points behind leaders West Monkton - despite their disappointing display against Frome who had won only two of their previous games.

Wellington 3rd XI, lying fifth in Division Seven Red, play 'at home' to second-placed Mass who have won 11 of their 14 fixtures and trail leaders West Monkton by 42 points but have a game in hand.

The top two sides in Division One of the West Somerset League, leaders Watchet and Kilve, both have blank weekends while third-placed and last season's champions Ashbrittle play at home to Brompton Ralph.

Ashbrittle's surprise defeat by bottom side Winsford last weekend means they now trail Watchet by 79 points - with three games to play.
