AN outstanding total of 16 Wellington School students have been selected to represent their counties.

Nine players have been selected to Somerset County Cricket squads across all age groups for the summer season, with a further four being selected for Devon and two for Cornwall.

Year 7 boys Freddie Bartlett and Freddie Stevens join the U12 Somerset squad and will take part in a comprehensive programme of friendly fixtures over the summer months.

Tom Brooks, a Year 8 student at Wellington School, has been selected for the U13 squad while Max Toohey in Year 9 will play for the Somerset U14s, who will be part of the ECB national competition.

Year 8 girls, Abi Govey, Isla May and Martha Cole, will be part of the Girls U13 set-up, again playing a range of friendly fixtures against other counties.

Sixth Former Cassie Coombes and Year 10 pupil Daisy Jeanes have both been selected for the Girls U17 Somerset squad and they will feature in the ECB national competition playing against other counties in the South West and Wales.

For the Devon county teams, Byron Knowles (U15) Ollie Blakeman (U14), Harvey Sargent (U17), James Doble (U15) have been selected to play for their county.

Sixth-formers Tommy Sturgess and brothers Samuel and Jacob Harvey will represent Cornwall.
