THERE is speculation that Wellington’s leading batsman Alex Sparks could be moving on, writes Barry Knott.

Sparks says he has not made up his mind yet whether to stay with Wellington or join another club.

“To be quite honest I’ve been busy this winter and haven’t given it much thought,” he said.

“I will make a decision once pre-season starts. I will give it more thought then.”

Wellington were relegated to the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League at the end of last season after playing in the Somerset division of the West of England League last summer.

Sparks, who stepped down from the captaincy at the end of last season, is one of Wellington’s few class batsman and it would be a big blow if he left.
