WELLINGTON return to Toolstation League action on Saturday after a win in the FA Vase second qualify- ing round away at Clevedon at the weekend.

Wellington will be playing at Hallen and boss Clive Jones is hop- ing to have a full squad to pick from – the players report for training tonight (Wednesday). He said: “We are near the bottom of the table and we need to try and get some points now – it will be a close game.”

Jones was pleased with the 1-0 victory at Clevedon, achieved

through a penalty by Ian Bellinger. Jones said: “It was very pleasing – we are finding it difficult, we can’t deny that – but we have gone there and worked hard, and we deserved to win and go through to the next round.

“Jack Bryant was the star man – he’s finding a vein of form and I was really pleased for him. It was also our first clean sheet of the season.”

Jones said he was trying to get his players to believe in themselves

more. He added: “Everyone knows we work hard and try our best but I’m trying to get the lads to play more, not just battle, and they took up the challenge on Saturday – there was an improvement.

“I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel or anything, or ask them to do things they can’t do, I just want them to play and that’s what I keep drilling into them.”

Wellington will be at home to Downton of the Wessex League in the next round of the FA Vase being played on October 21.
