WELLINGTON Town gained a splendid 8-1 home win over near neighbours Bishops Lydeard in Division Two of the Under 13 section in the HO Soccer Taunton & District Football League - with all of their goals coming from striker Felix E. In a frantic start, Wellington scored after only one minute, conceded after four minutes and then scored again after five minutes to go into a 2-1 lead. The game then settled, and Wellington put together some great passing moves and looked very settled in defence, which was led by their captain for the day, Charlie F. Wellington scored their third after 19 minutes before scoring a further three goals in a five-minute spell just before half time which included an amazing chip of the Lydeard goalkeeper. In the second half, Wellington continued to play great football and were dominating in midfield through Jesse B, Theo W and Arthur H. A further goal was scored after an amazing through ball from Ryleigh P and the final goal was netted after nearly an hour’s play of stylish football. This was Wellington’s best performance of the season with a great team effort, lots of talking and a significant improvement from the previous week. It was not difficult to name the Player of the match: Felix E. Thanks go to kit sponsors Davey and Prouse for their continued support of the team throughout the season.
This decisive victory enabled Wellington to go fourth in the table, with three wins and four losses.
Wembdon Saints have a two-point lead at the top of the table but Galmington Dragons Hawks, who are in second place, have two matches in hand, having played only five games and are unbeaten.
Wellington have a tough game this coming weekend, Saturday, November 8, when they play away to Wembdon Saints.
