WELLINGTON’S football manager Clive Jones is looking to strengthen his first team squad.
“We’re getting a bit thin on the ground,” said Jones whose side were due to play away to Bath City in the second round of the Somerset Premier Cup last night.
It is the third time of trying because City have already postponed the tie twice.
Wellington dropped two crucial points in Division One of the Toolstation League on Saturday when they drew 1-1 at home against bottom side Almondsbury UWE.
“I think a new face would give us a lift,” added Jones. “I’ve got one or two ideas I shall be working on this week. We will be without Tim Legg for the next couple of Saturdays and I need to bring in someone with experience.”
Meanwhile, Wellington will be looking to avenge one of only two league defeats this season when they play at home to Corsham Town on Saturday (3.00). Wellington lost 1-0 away to Corsham early in the season.
Besides Legg, Wellington will also be without Sam Towler who was recently involved in a motoring accident in Bournemouth.
“Sam has a leg injury which is not responding to treatment,” added Jones. “We’re hoping he can see someone about it this week.”
Wellington remain second in the table, only two points behind leaders Keynsham with a game in hand.
“Most of the lads have not been in this position before, so a bit of experience might help,” added Jones.
Wellington Reserves, Hemyock and Wellington Thirds are all without games in the Devon and Exeter League.
