WELLINGTON’S football manager Clive Jones has stepped up his search to strengthen his struggling side.

“I’m looking to bring in a defender and goalkeeper,” said Jones whose side have yet to win a match this season.

Wellington went down 4-0 away to Shepton Mallet in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase over the weekend and Jones said: “They were the best side we have played this season. I am pleased with the squad in general but we have to defend better.

“It’s not just the defence, it’s the whole side. It’s something we will be working on at training this week.”

Meanwhile, Wellington have a good chance to end their miserable start to the season when they play away to Roman Glass St George, another team struggling in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League.

“The problem we have against Roman Glass is that they played on a 4G pitch. It won’t be easy for the lads.”

Wellington welcome back teenage forward Joe Wylie who missed the match at Shepton because he was on a family holiday.

Jones would also like to play Mitch Woodgate on the field instead of in goal.
