WELLINGTON Wildcats Ladies returned to home action for the first time since early January and produced a superb all-round performance to secure a 3–0 victory over Nailsea United Ladies in Division One of the Somerset Women’s Football League.

Despite starting the match with just 10 players, Wildcats controlled possession and dictated the tempo from the outset. Their early dominance was rewarded after 20 minutes when Milly H opened the scoring, her effort slipping through the opposition goalkeeper’s hands.

With around 20 minutes of the first half remaining, Leah Morrell arrived to bring Wildcats up to a full XI and immediately made an impact, going close with her very first touch. Wildcats continued to look composed and organised, taking a 1–0 lead into the break.

The second half started in perfect fashion. Just four minutes after the restart, goalkeeper Bianca Hamlyn launched a deep kick into the Nailsea half which caught the defence off guard. Morrell reacted quickest, racing through on goal before calmly slotting past the keeper to double Wildcats’ advantage.

Wildcats continued to impress across the pitch. Robyn Stockman was a constant threat on the wing, while the defensive unit was outstanding throughout. Full-backs Erin C and Grayson Kennard not only dealt with everything defensively but also played a key role in launching attacks from deep. Kennard’s exceptional all-round display deservedly earned the Player of the Match award.

Milly H capped off a brilliant performance by adding her second goal of the game, cutting in from the edge of the box and neatly finishing into the corner to put the result beyond doubt.

At the other end, Hamlyn ensured the clean sheet with two excellent saves, denying Nailsea any route back into the game.

There was also a standout debut for Jayda S-H, who impressed with her energy and composure throughout.
