WELLINGTON Wildcats provided a determined performance in their Under 11 Cup tie against Street.

From the first whistle to the last, every player showed fantastic commitment, teamwork and resilience. Their effort and attitude were outstanding, and their willingness to work for one another was clear throughout.

In such an important game, they competed brilliantly and should be incredibly proud of themselves.

A special congratulations goes to Player of the Match, Abbey T, who delivered an exceptional performance. She showed great composure and determination in every moment, with an impressive work rate and consistently positive attitude. Her overall impact on the game made a real difference for the team. Well done to everyone for their hard work, fighting spirit and excellent team display.

A welcome break in the weather allowed Wildcats Under 12s to play Bishops Lydeard in a local derby.

The Wildcats started brightly, carrying energy from their warm-up into the game. They dominated possession early on and spent much of the first half in the Lydeard half, winning several corners. Millie G sent dangerous balls across the box, but the finishing touch was missing.

Midway through the half, Lydeard capitalised on a corner of their own, squeezing the ball in at the near post. The second half followed a similar pattern, with the Wildcats controlling much of the play and creating chances but unable to convert. Lydeard also threatened, but Remi S tipped a powerful shot onto the post and Summer H produced a crucial last-ditch tackle to prevent another goal.

Even with three strikers on in the final minutes, it wasn’t to be Wildcats’ day, and the match ended 1–0. Player of the Match went to Sammie G for a strong and reliable performance in defence.

Wildcats Under 13s travelled to Pen Mill for a later kick-off and began positively, with Mary and Bella both seeing efforts blocked from distance. Just before half-time, Scarlett switched play beautifully to Bella, who threaded a pass through to Lyla to finish confidently and give the Wildcats the lead.

In the second half, the Wildcats continued to dominate possession and create chances. A Bella corner found Scarlett six yards out, and she struck home confidently with her weaker foot. Madeleine then saw an effort tipped onto the post before Amelia S calmly slotted home to seal a 3–0 victory. With other results going their way, the Wildcats move four points clear at the top of the division.

Under 14s vs Wembdon Wildcats faced the Under 14 league leaders Wembdon in a friendly and fell behind within five minutes. Despite going 2–0 down, they continued to compete strongly, with Flo N and Ruby troubling the defence.

Early in the second half, Flo N broke through and finished well to pull one back. From then on, Wellington took control. The defence stood firm, with Hallie outstanding, and Casey P impressed at right back.

A corner led to Flo G tapping in after the ball hit the post, making it 2–2. Both sides pushed for a winner, but a draw was a fair result and another sign of the team’s steady improvement as the season continues, albeit not every weekend because of the bad weather.

The Wildcats have more matches lined up this coming weekend, March 7.
