WELLINGTON’S new football manager Tim Legg has not ruled out making a playing comeback.

Legg, who replaced Clive Jones earlier this month, has been struggling with ‘knee problems’ since the end of last season.

“My priority at the moment is managing and coaching,” said Legg yesterday. “I will play if I think I can improve the side. But at the moment it has been very frustrating.

“Obviously I have to regain full fitness - so I’m putting everything into training and match days,” said Legg, who has played Southern League football for Taunton and Bridgwater.

Legg has continued to strengthen his side and has signed centre back Jack Horsey from Bridgwater Town while striker Joe Wilkinson has rejoined Wellington from Middlezoy Rovers, having made a couple of appearances earlier this season.

Youngsters Joe Wylie and Ollie Holman, who both would have missed last Saturday’s postponed home game against Street which was eventually called off because of the bad weather, are both available again.

“The decision to call off the game was made by a local referee following an inspection,” added Legg who regards ‘competition for places’ as one of his main priorities.

Wellington play away to mid-table Shepton Mallet in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League on Saturday looking for points to ease away from the drop zone in the division.

Utility player Jordan Macey, who would almost certainly have missed the game against Street, could be doubtful on Saturday with an hamstring injury.

Wellington Reserves are home to Chard Town Reserves in the first division of the Devon and Exeter League on Saturday while Hemyock are away to Pinhoe in the third division.

Highflyers Wellington A entertain Porlock in Division Two of the Invest Southwest Taunton Saturday League while Wellington side Moortown are away to Watchet Blues Waves in the Keyline Somerset Sunday League’s Gardner Cup.
