WELLINGTON’S football manager Tim Legg says he is ‘excited’ about the new season.

Legg said: “We’ve had plenty of new potential first team players at training. There has been lots of interest in playing and I expect there to be plenty of competition for places.”

Wellington held their last training session this Wednesday and will be reverting to twice-weekly sessions, on Mondays and Wednesday, starting this coming week.

He remains optimistic about when the season will start. “I would like to think it will start in September and we can arrange some friendlies next month,” added Legg, who is training hard himself with the view to playing.

“A lot will depend on what the squad will eventually be like,” he said. “All the players are pleased to be training outdoors. It is all looking very positive. We have a good management team and will be making decisions together.”

Wellington Reserves and Wellington A have also been having good numbers at training.
