WELLINGTON AFC have announced that Richard Cherry has returned to the club as first team manager.

Cherry stepped down from the role in July after two seasons in charge. But, after the club parted company with his replacement Josh Stunell last month, he has agreed to step back into the role.

With Cherry in charge, Wellington finished 13th in the Jewson Western League's Premier Division last season – their best position, and with their highest points total, for a number of years.

Chairman Mike Hall said: “We are delighted to have Richard back on board. He decided during the summer that he needed a break but has now recharged his batteries and is raring to go.“Richard jumped at the opportunity to rejoin us because he loves the club and we’re looking forward to having him involved again.”

Cherry said: “I’ve really missed being part of the club and it’s great to be back.”
