LOCAL football leagues are facing a crisis with teams folding all over Somerset. The Taunton Saturday League has lost five teams since the end of the summer break, the latest two being Staplegrove and FC Boca.

All told 11 teams have pulled out of the league in the last year and fixture secretary Tony Good said last night: “It’s happening all over the South West. I expect at least four more sides to pull out of our league by Christmas. It’s the worst situation local leagues have faced for years. I’ve no idea what the answer is.”
