WELLINGTON will be looking to bounce back after Saturday’s exit from the FA Vase when they play at home to Ashton & Backwell in the first division of the Toolstation League tonight (September 14) (7.30 p.m.).
Wellington lost 1-0 at home to Bishop Sutton in the Vase over the weekend, and boss Clive Jones said afterwards: “We simply did not get going. There was no spark in the side.
“It is not what I wanted. We must play entertaining football if we are to bring supporters back to the ground. I cannot keep on moaning about the side because we have really done quite well.”
Because of their involvement in the Vase, Wellington slipped to third in the Toolstation League table , two points adrift of leaders Keynsham Town Victoria.
Ashton are lying sixth in the table and Wellington’s visitors to the Playing Field on Saturday are Chippenham Park who are fourth, just behind Wellington.
These are games Wellington must win if they are to keep up with the leaders in the division.
Wellington Reserves, who gained a good goalless draw away against University 2nds, are away to Willand Rovers in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League on Saturday.
Hemyock, who won 3-0 at home against Lyme Reserves in Division Six, are home to Shebbear in the Devon Intermediate Cup.
Wellington Thirds, who top Division Seven, are home to Colyton.
