TRANSITION Town Wellington are holding a picnic at Longacre, on Saturday, August 31 (12-3pm). This is the new name voted for the field by the railway at the end of Dobree Park in Rockwell Green. Transition plan to plant fruit and nut trees this winter in this beautiful field, so at the picnic they would like to meet new people interested in getting involved.

There will be lots of activities for children; building bug hotels, a nature treasure hunt and face paints, including short talks about this project, with a child appropriate discussion about climate change and food security. There will also be a bake sale to raise some money for the trees. However families are encouraged to bring a picnic and a blanket to sit on. Music will be adding to the atmosphere with a local acoustic band playing old folk tunes.

So why not join the picnic. Hopefully it will be sunny, but in the case of torrential rain it will be cancelled, so do check out the Transition Town Wellington Facebook page beforehand.

Directions; Dobree Park TA21 9RT, or walking access via Greenway road TA21 9DE. Please consider the residents and either walk or cycle; parking is very limited in this residential area.”
