WELLINGTON Reserves completed a 14-day double by beating Colyton 3-1 in the Premier Division of the Devon & Exeter League at the Carly Press Ground. Wellington made a bright start but it was Colyton who took the lead on 30 minutes after Wellington believed they had won a throw in, but the ref overruled the linesman. From the quick throw, Wellington were still trying to get back and a visiting forward got a shot from the edge of the box which keeper Charlie Hawkins could only parry into the path of an onrushing player who knocked it into the net. It was not long before Wellington equalised, and it came from a good team move when the ball was crossed into the box by Ben Evett. It evaded everyone, and as it ran loose, Ollie Ackland hit it first time back across the keeper. Manager Mark Owen could have not asked for a better start to the second half as Wellington scored after two minutes. Player of the match Jack Bryant sent a low curling shot past the keeper to make it 2-1. After 75 minutes Colyton were awarded a controversial penalty against Dylan Groves who had looked to have won the ball. The kick was hit low and hard to the right but Charlie Hawkings was equal to it and made an unbelievable save. This seemed to give Wellington the momentum and again Jack Bryant came up with a stunning goal. The attendance was boosted by former players of the Rockwell Green and Cottage Club, who sponsored the game. There was also a bucket collection in aid of the charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably.
