WELLINGTON have signed experienced left-footed defender Lewis Tasker from Southern League neighbours Tiverton Town.

Tasker was signed in time to play in Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Roman Glass St George in the Toolstation League’s Premier Division and scored on his debut.

Although only in his mid-20s, Tasker has played for several clubs, including Taunton Town, Evesham United, Weymouth, Bridgwater Town and Exeter City.

“Lewis wants regular football and he was not getting it at Tiverton,” said Wellington boss Clive Jones.

“He is a quality player and has a wonderful left foot. Whether it’s a permanent move for him we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Tasker links up again with Josh Wadham, both players having been regular members of Street’s Toolstation League championship winning team of last season.

Wellington’s victory over Roman Glass moved them up to 12th in the table and set them up nicely for the home fixture against title-chasing Westbury this coming Saturday (3.00).
