HAVING moved out of the relegation zone in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League, Wellington have no match this weekend as they prepare for their first round proper clash in the FA Vase with Downton at home the following Saturday.

Wellington have already won £1,275 in prizemoney and there is another £825 at stake on Saturday week.

Wellington beat Longwell Green Sports 2-1 at the Playing Field on Saturday but it was far from a decisive victory against a side which is still looking for its first point of the season.

“We just did enough to deserve to win,” said Wellington’s assistant manager Ian Nott who was in charge of the side in the absence of Clive Jones.

“They looked a bottom of the table team which doesn’t say too much about us.

“I think it would have been a quite different game if we had not missed a penalty in the second half. We would probably have gone on to win it comfortably.”
