ON A crisp Sunday morning, Wellington Football Club’s Under 11s welcomed Torrington for a well-contested friendly fixture. The visitors arrived with a strong and well-organised side, and they immediately began to assert their dominance in the early stages of the match. Wellington started slowly, struggling to find rhythm and composure. A few early mistakes proved costly, as Torrington capitalised clinically to take control of the scoreline. Despite the shaky start, Wellington showed resilience and began to grow into the game, stringing together some confident passages of play and becoming much more competitive. Midway through the first half, Wellington found their footing and began to dominate possession. The team worked tirelessly to regain control, and the side created several promising chances. The attacking unit showed determination, testing Torrington’s defence with movement and sharp passing. The second half saw Wellington continue their resurgence, with spells of pressure that had Torrington on the back foot. Wellington’s improvement throughout the match was clear and commendable. The team’s spirit, teamwork, and adaptability were on display, offering plenty of positives to build on in future fixtures.
One of the highlights of the season so far for the Wanderers has been their continual improvement in games. They are continuing to take a step forward in their development journey. It is at this age that they begin to develop the skills which will eventually take them in to adult football - which is a big step.
A huge thank you goes out to the side’s sponsors, Roadchef who are the kit sponsor, and R & M Motor, who are the ball sponsor, for their continued support this season which is appreciated by all players - and the parents and supporters. Well done to both teams on a good game of football. . .
