WELLINGTON Wildcats’ have been back in action for the second successive Saturday - with a mixed bag of results in the Somerset Girls Football League.

Wellington Wildcats Under 11s vs Shepton Mallet: The U11s faced a tough start against a fast-paced Shepton Mallet side, with the visitors dominating early on. Despite being under pressure, the Wildcats held strong and took a surprise lead from a quick counterattack.

As the match progressed, the Wildcats grew into the game, controlling possession and creating a few chances. However, Shepton Mallet scored two late goals to win the match. Despite the loss, the team showed great determination, and there were plenty of positive signs for future matches.

Under 12s vs Martock: The U12s began their match against Martock slowly but soon found their rhythm. After an early goal from captain Hetty H, the team extended their lead with another goal from Millie G. The Wildcats dominated the game, with Emilia and Millie scoring, and Georgie adding a goal before halftime to make it 5-0. In the second half, the game became more even, but Hetty scored again to seal a 6-0 win. Millie G was named Player of the Day for her excellent midfield performance.

Under 13s vs Pen Mill: In their first home game of the season, the U13s faced a tight contest against Pen Mill. The Wildcats controlled possession and broke the deadlock with a long-range shot from Bella W, though Pen Mill equalised just before halftime.

The second half saw the Wildcats step up their game, with Madeline H-W scoring the winning goal after a well-executed team move. The Wildcats held on to secure a 2-1 win, maintaining a perfect start to the season.

Under 14s vs Winscombe: The U14s had a challenging match against Winscombe, dominating the early stages but failing to convert their scoring chances. Winscombe capitalized on mistakes and scored three goals before halftime. Despite their best efforts, the Wildcats were unable to recover, with the match ending 7-0 in Winscombe’s favour. Amelia W was named Player of the Match for her solid defensive performance despite the difficult circumstances.

Under 15s vs Swiss Valley:The U15s travelled to Swiss Valley for a physically demanding match, ultimately losing 5-0. Despite starting well and creating some early chances, the Wildcats struggled with injuries and found themselves 4-0 down by halftime. In the second half, they remained resolute but were unable to get on the scoreboard. Despite the defeat, the team showed great heart and determination. Kacie W was named Player of the Match for her standout performance.

Under 16s vs Paulton Rovers: The U16s had a commanding 6-3 away win over Paulton Rovers. After taking a 3-0 lead at halftime, the Wildcats saw Paulton pull back two goals , narrowing the score to 4-3. However, goalkeeper Jasmine S made a crucial save, and the Wildcats responded with two more goals from Emilia S and Orlaith C to seal the victory. Darcey B was named Player of the Match for her superb defensive performance, helping the team extend their unbeaten run.

Wellington Wilcats are involved in another full programme of matches in the league this Saturday. They include: Under 11 - Wellington Wildcats v Street Youth; Under 12 - Wellington Wildcats v Pen Mil Vixens; Under 13 - Shepton Mallet v Wellington Wildcats; Under 16 - Wellington Wildcats v Portishead Town Pumas.
