RICHARD O’Hanlon, of St Kew Golf Club in Cornwall, won the professional’s prize at Oake Manor Golf Club’s big pro-am on Friday (Sept 9) with a six-under par score of 64, writes Barry Knott.
O’Hanlon, the pro in the St Kew Crew team, defied the poor weather conditions in the afternoon to fire a score which was only two shots off the course record.
“The golfers in the morning enjoyed the better conditions,” said Oake professional James Smallacombe whose team Spackman Associates included Alison Sparkman, Paddy MacLennan and James Spackman.
“It got very windy in the afternoon.”
Forty-four teams of four from all over the South West took part in the competition with the course in splendid condition.
The winning team with a score of 15 under par were Maxwell Chartered Accountants of Bridgwater – ironically the golf club’s accountants – which consisted of pro Liam Bond (St Pierre), Clive Hall-Tomkin, Steve Corrick and Jon Stanley.
