HEMYOCK Football Club have been presented with their brand new kit which have been supplied by Omnitau, of Wellington. They have teamed up with Devon Air Ambulance and St Margaret's Somerset Hospice to showcase the two wonderful charities.

Omnitau approached the football club to offer a brand new kit. Touched by the generosity, the club wanted to pass this gesture on in the same great way it had been passed to them. It was an easy decision as several players could find a connection with both charities.

Sam Iddon, first team manager and secretary, lost his mum Sue in July 2022 to cancer. Sam said: "The previous 18 months were heartbreaking and at times inconceivable as to how anyone would cope within the family. However, the team at St Margaret's Somerset Hospice were crucial at providing the family with support that was dearly needed throughout Mum's battle with cancer.

"Our pitch at Longmead is a night-time landing site for the air ambulance - providing a valuable resource to enable their night-time operation in the Culm Valley."

The air ambulance came to the aid of Sam's grandfather back in 2006 at the nearby Culmstock Beacon, after he suffered a heart attack. More recently, in 2015, committee member and full-back Liam Hole's 12 year-old brother Oliver Croker was fatally wounded while watching a football match in Bradninch. On that day, the air ambulance was dispatched and went to Oliver's aid.

Both of these charities rely solely on charitable donations and support from the public.

Hemyock Football Club are delighted to play a part in the great work that they do.
