WELLINGTON’S talented midfielder Kieran Ireland has joined Toolstation League rivals Clevedon Town.

Wellington’s assistant player-manager Jack Porter said today: “Obviously, we can’t stand in his way and wish him all the best.

“Clevedon came in with seven days notice of approach and we agreed to let him go.”

Ireland broke his leg early in the season but had made a playing comeback - and was playing well. Porter added: “We will always have this problem with players.

“We sign them from the lower leagues and they move on if they are really good.”

Wellington’s next game is at home to Bridgwater United on Boxing Day (1p.m.).
