MORE than 40 teenagers and juniors wore their festive jumpers and hats for the annual Christmas party at Wellington Tennis Club.

The children enjoyed playing together and the older children led a game of Pirates and Champions.

Chair Sue Rackley cooked up portions of chicken nuggets and chips while committee members Liz Deem and Simon Cross made cakes as did ex-coach and stalwart of the club Philippa Dee who joined in the fun.

Head coach Dan Sizer awarded the Graham Jones Cups to Harry Whiteman and Ivy Mayben for their 'enthusiasm during coaching sessions.'

In 2024, the club will be beginning a new mid week junior coaching session and has recently started a new Wednesday club night for beginners and iIntermediate players which is open for non- members as well for £7.

Sue added: "We have had an amazing year. We were awarded Somerset LTA Club of the Year, started a second Cardio session and fielded three teams in the West Somerset League. We also started junior matchplay sessions.

"Our LTA tournaments are well supported and this raises good income, too. Four men also joined in November, and many non-members join in with our cardiio and beginners sessions.

"Our next project is to extend our clubhouse and get a toilet and better kitchen area so watch this space!"
