MOWERS are champions of Division B in the Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League for the 19th successive season following their 50-pin demolition of Ex-Servicemen - the only home win of the night.
Long-time leaders King Pins also won beating, Foresters by 37 to take the runners-up spot. Joint third are Scuppas and the Rugby Boys, both of whose last matches are at home and therefore cannot catch King Pins.
Last week the Rugby Boys had the biggest winning margin (78) over Home Guard 4 and Scuppas beat Soccerites by 44. Stragglers obtained their first away win of the season by beating United Services by two - this one of two matches that were this close and by doing so move off the bottom of the table.
The other two pin win went to Odds & Ends over All Stars. There was also a win also for Outsiders over Moonrakers by just three pins .
This week is the final week of the season. Champions Mowers see out the season away to Odds & Ends and runners-up King Pins play at home v All Stars. Third place can go to either Scuppas who are at home v Home Guard 4 or W.R.F.C. who also play at home v Foresters.
It’s a three-way tie at the top of Division A. In fact the five leading sides all won. Reservists were the only team in the top five to play away and that extra point has moved them up to joint top.
Reservists beat Rebels by 28, Relyon beat Queens Legs by 68 - the biggest winning margin and Home Guard 2 beat sixth-placed Bell Green by 16.
Fourth-placed Cottage Pies stay close enough to snatch a late top three spot after beating O.B.A. by 15. T
There were only two away wins - Reservists and the other was in the closest match a single pin win for Fireguard A over Oaks. Last man skipper Greg Gill got the eight pins he needed for the win.
Wardens enjoyed a 10 pin win over their Victoria Arms downstairs neighbours Shooters, Report Centre A managed a six-pin win over Angels and Holywell Lake (fifth) beat Club Rockers by 55.
This week the three joint leaders play as follows: Relyon are away to Bell Green and Home Guard 2 are away to Reservists. With only three matches left no team can afford to lose and also the week after Relyon will be hosting Reservists.
