WELLINGTON road racer Matt Pearce wrapped up his season with a creditable 24th place in the last of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series, at Brands Hatch, Kent.
The free practice sessions started in dry weather but were then affected by drizzle.
It rained on race day on the Sunday and Pearce decided to go for wet front and dry rear tyres because there were some dry areas around the circuit.
Other riders decided on a mix of tyres – some full wets and some full dries – making for an interesting race.
The track did not dry as quickly as Pearce hoped but, even so, he found himself in a good position after four laps.
His 24th place was a solid result considering the very mixed conditions.
Pearce said afterwards: “The race was a lot of fun and a great way to end the season.
“Preparations for 2017 are already under way and I cannot wait to get back out on track again next year.
“That just leaves me to say a massive thank-you to all my sponsors and everyone who supports me in any way. I would not be able to do it without you all.”
