BELL Green will play Mowers in the final of Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Ken Bright Cup.

The Bee Gees booked their place in the final when they beat Home Guard IV 9-5, although both teams scored 350. Paul Rowlandson hit 47 for the winners while Pete Spencer knocked 59 for the Guard.

In the other semi-final, Mowers beat King Pins 10-4, with a 39-pin winning margin. Steve Foster scored 54 for Mowers while Paul Winter was tops for Pins with 53.

Meanwhile, Ex-Servicemen maintained their 100 per cent record in the Chris Bullock Championship with a 34-pin success against King Pins with Geoff Hamlyn leading the way with a fine 58. Pins’ top scorer was Dave Houston with 52. Scores: Ex-Servicemen 394, King Pins 360.

Mowers 384, Scuppas 366: Mowers strengthened their grip on second place with a solid 18-pin home victory with Darren Winter being their star skittler with 57, while Craig Newstead hit 56 for the losers.

Outsiders 346, WRFC 360: The rugby boys picked up a welcome away win as they edged past Outsiders by 14 pins at the Conservative Club. Alvin Bellamy top scored with 52 for the hosts, while Paul Higgs and Dave Huggett knocked 50s for WRFC.

United Services 424, Home Guard IV 376: United Services produced one of the performances of the season as they smashed past the 400-pin mark, proving too much for the visitors. Phil John was in sensational form for the Services, chalking up a remarkable 78, while Pete Spencer hit 54 for Home Guard.

Odds & Ends 406, Here 4 the Beer 384: Odds & Ends picked up a morale-boosting win at the Victoria Arms with Pete Wratten being their star with 64. Adam Morgan scored 56 for the visitors who fell just short of their target.

Gerald Thorne Championship - Shooters 344, Queens Legs 378: Legs continued their strong run with a convincing 34-pin victory against Shooters whose skipper Keith Harcombe scored 54. Queens’ top skittler was Alfie Hill with 52.

Cottage Pies 346, Relyon 361: Relyon kept up the pressure on the leaders of the division with an impressive away win at the Cottage with Ron Wills steering his side to victory with a splendid 62 after Lee Ellis had knocked 58 for Pies.

Report Centre A 372, Holywell Lake 406: Holywell Lake passed the 400-pin mark once again with Dave Howell being their top skittler with a superb 66. RCA’s leading player was D Bennett with 55.

Fireguard A 337, Bell Green 384: Division leaders Bell Green showed their class with a comforable 47-pin victory away to Fireguard A. Dan Taylor (Fireguard A) and Jason Powell (Bell Green) both knocked 56s.

Oaks 365, Reservists 378: Reservists picked up a valuable away win against Oaks in a competitive game. Iain Andrews scored 51 for the home side while Phil Powell’s 53 proved crucial for Reservists.

Hot Shots 346, Rebels 324: Hot Shots claimed an important home victory over Rebels, pulling clear by 22 pins on the night. Edd Chivers top scored for the hosts with a tidy 50, while John Sellick scored 49 as Rebels struggled to get over the finishing line.

OBA 365, Home Guard II 375: Home Guard II continued their climb up the table with a hard-fought ten-pin win away to OBA. Andy Kemp hit 57 for OBA while Macca Campbell scored 54 for Home Guard II.
