WELLINGTON RFC’s AGM opened with a minute’s silence for those members who had passed away in the last 12 months.

President Matthew Colman was delighted to welcome so many members, especially the large representation from the Vixens. He gave an upbeat statement in which he thanked everyone for making the 150th season a success. He was particularly proud that everyone had pulled together to celebrate during the Gala Weekend in April.

“From my initial opening remarks at the Gala Dinner to the U16s winning in the last minute on the Sunday, things could not have gone better”.

He thanked outgoing head coach Graham Dawe for his superb service. He announced that Graham and his wife Liz were to be made honorary vice presidents.

Head coach for the new season would be Bradley Field. while George Hodgson and Louis Justice will captain the 1st and 2nd XVs respectively. Allyn Chetland becomes the club’s new Director of Rugby.

He was delighted to announce the club had realised a surplus. However, he warned it was important to keep up momentum and the 2025/6 season would be challenging. The club continues to enhance its facilities, with the bottom bar currently undergoing an upgrade and the overdue extension to the kitchen due to start in August.

Officers were duly elected, and it was particularly pleasing that the Colts, Vixens and Mini and Junior sections will be heavily represented on the committee.

Officers for the 2025/6 season: President Matthew Colman, Chairman Gareth Hodgson, Secretary Ashley Colman, Treasurer TBC, Members Sec Jason Harvey, Letting Sec Caroline Davey,

Fixture Sec Andy Cottrell.

Chairman Gareth Hodgson proposed the following for Life Membership – Matthew Colman, John Dunbar, Caroline Davey, Ashley Colman, Phil Braddick, Bill Sherwin.

All had been involved with the club for over 40 years, and it was his privilege to announce these well-deserved honours.
