PLAYER-coach Matt Parsons rated Wellington’s display in the 37-0 home win over Stroud on Saturday as the ‘best of the season’.
“Our defence won us the game,” said Parsons after Wellington’s surprisingly big win over a side third in Western Counties North.
“We only got into their half three times in the first half and scored every time.
“This was the difference between this performance and other displays by us this season.
“We created scoring chances and took them. Stroud looked the better side early on but we kept them out,” added Parsons who missed the game with an open dislocated finger.
“We’re a young side and can only get better. We know we have the beating of teams in the second half because we’re a lot younger and fitter.”
Wellington end the season with a home game this coming Saturday against Avon who, like Wellington, have been uncomfortably close to the drop zone this season.
Wellington 2nd XV play away to Yatton 2nd XV in Somerset One.
Wiveliscombe’s two senior sides have no game.
