WELLINGTON have become detached from the rest of the teams in Western Counties West.
They lost again on Saturday when they went down 27-10 to mid-table St Ives and now find themselves eight points adrift at the bottom of the table.
They have three more matches to end the year – all at home. They play St Austell in the league on Saturday and follow this with a game against Tiverton on Saturday, December 17.
Their final fixture of the first-half of the season is the annual Boxing Day clash against Wiveliscombe which is likely to attract a 800-plus crowd.
Even if they win their two league matches it does not mean they will go into the New Year out of the bottom two.
And supporters at the Athletic Ground must also be becoming concerned about the Wivey clash - and the possibility of a win for the West Somerset outfit.
Wellington have held the advantage in these derby matches in recent seasons but in the present circumstances Wiveliscombe will start as slight favourites.
On finding a new coach, Wellington appear no nearer to making an appointment as they were last week.
It cannot be easy at this stage of the season to be able to bring in a new coach although the club have put out ‘feelers.’
Wiveliscombe, whose seven-match winning run in Somerset Premier ended at Oldfield where they lost 23-22, are home to St Bernadettes Old Boys who are struggling at the wrong end of the table.
Wellington 2nd XV are away to Yatton in Somerset One while Wiveliscombe 2nd XV play at Burnham on Sea in Somerset Two South.
