WWN weatherman Simon Ratsey (pictured) has landed this whopper – a 16lb 9oz Rainbow Trout – the second largest ever come out of Clatworthy Reservoir. It has caused quite few jaws to drop.

Simon said: “This is genuinely the fish of a lifetime and something that wouldn’t have even been thought possible when I first fished at Clatworthy in 1961.

“Considering that I was using 4lb breaking strain line, it’s almost a miracle that I didn’t lose the fish. While it could have plunged into a weed bed or gone around some tree roots, it headed off into open water. Even so, there were more than enough anxious moments before I got it to the net.”
