WELLINGTON Football Club appear to be close to appointing a new first team manager.

Club secretary Jeff Brown said the club had been in discussions with ‘someone’ which were positive.

"The matter is being dealt with by our chairman Mike Hall. I understand an offer has been made to someone and he will come back to us.

“These things take time and we cannot announce anything yet.”

Wellington are seeking to replace joint managers Alex Pope and Tim Legg who have both stepped down.

The club are also looking to replace Reserve team boss Nick Buttle and his coach Adam Watson who have also quit.
