WELLINGTON 2nd XI, skippered by veteran all-rounder Rob Moysey, will be looking to step up the pressure at the top of the second division in the Somerset Cricket League when they play away to Frome 2nd XI on Saturday, August 16.

Wellington are lying second in the table, only 17 points behind leaders West Monkton, both sides having played the same number of games.

Frome have been struggling all season and are 23 points adrift at the bottom of the table, having won only two of their 15 matches. The sides were involved in a rain-affected draw when they played each other at Wellington in June.

Meanwhile, Wellington lst XI will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they play at home to Bridgwater 2nd XI in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier League (12 noon).

Wellington remain seventh in the table despite suffering their fourth successive loss - at Wembdon last weekend - after being in a winning position at one stage in the game.

Bridgwater, who are in fourth spot, lost by 20 runs at home to Wellington in mid-June.

Taunton Deane and Ilminster share the lead in the division, both with 240 points from their 15 fixtures to date. At the other end of the table, Butleigh and Shapwick and Polden look certain to be relegated.

Wellington 3rd XI are ‘home’ to Taunton Deane 5th XI in Division 7 Red of the Somereset League. Wellington are fourth in the table while the Deane are second from bottom.

Wiveliscombe, who are bottom of Division Three, must beat North Curry away if they are going to avoid relegation. They have won only three of their 13 fixtures this summer. North Curry are lying fifth.

Taunton Indian have an 18-point lead at the top of the table, having lost only one of their 13 matches.
