WELLINGTON Association Football Club’s Under 8 boys marked the end of a brilliant season with their annual presentation day, celebrating a standout year for the young squad in their final campaign of five-a-side football.
Throughout the season, the team have shown incredible growth — not just in skill, but in confidence, teamwork, and determination. Every player in the squas has contributed to a campaign full of memorable moments, with plenty of spectacular goals, great saves, and true team spirit.
A major highlight of the season was hosting the team’s first Under 8s’ tournament on the all-weather pitch at Court Fields. It was a proud moment for the club as players, coaches, and families came together to create a special day of football and fun, reinforcing the community values which make Wellington AFC such a strong club.
The team, coaches and parents would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dan Gubb, whose generous kit sponsorship helped the squad look and feel the part throughout the season.
A big thank you also goes to Davey Roofing and Donald Bingham for their kind donations—support like this makes a huge difference and has helped ensure the Under 8s had their best year yet.
The end-of-season presentation was a wonderful celebration of the year’s highlights. A nostalgic video of some of the team’s finest goals got everyone reminiscing, followed by the now-famous End of Year Quiz — expertly hosted by quizmaster Coach Pete!
As the boys look ahead to the exciting challenge of moving up to seven-a-side football in the 2025-26 season, the coaching team — Gary, Pete, Dave, Ross, and Anthony — could not be prouder. With continued hard work, support, and plenty of passion, the future looks bright for this talented group. Well done, Wellington Under 8s!
