A FULL complement of 32 teams entered the annual Peter Bird Skittles Knockout Competition, which was played at the Wellington Football Club, with £510 in prize money.

With 15 previous winners again entering, there were going to be some who did not make it through the first round game.

Only the following former winners won -  Outsiders, Roys Rebels, Mowers, who beat Reservists, Bottoms Up, who beat three times previous winners Scuppas, Prince “B”, Foresters, Renowns, who beat two times winners Misfits, Cider Drinkers, Next Generation, Wardens, Brass Monkeys, Redskins, Highflyers, T’Allsorts, THE XMen, & Leppers.

The highest score by a man was won by S Howard who knocked a magnificent 67, who played for Bottoms Up whose team knocked 330 in their first game.

The highest score by a woman was by Mel Beale who knocked 51 and who plays for the Cider Drinkers.

As usual in skittles there were some very close games with Redskins only losing by one pin to Next Generation from Taunton.

The final saw the only previous winners Renowns, captained by Matt Horne. take on X-Men, captained by Adrian Perry, with X-Men coming out on top, winning by 13 pins.

The competition will again be held at the Soccor Club next year.
